Builders add rate offers as multi section shipments slip

Seven more retail programs were running at the end of September than a month earlier. Captive lenders added three promotional rate offers aimed at multi section homes, where shipments are below last year

1Programs running at the end of September

We found 94 active retail programs from 16 builders and their captive lenders. Most new programs in September were cash rebates and promotional rates on multi section homes, and most end on 31 December, which points to builders clearing 2026 model year inventory before the new year.1

4Against the Shipment Report

5What to watch in October

Whether other captive lenders match the 5.99 percent rate before the end of the year, September shipments in next month's Shipment Report, and how many programs ending on 31 October are extended.

How this monitor is built

  • A program counts when its terms are published by the builder, its captive lender or a retailer acting for the builder
  • Each program is recorded with its offer, eligible homes and model years, start and end dates, and kept after it ends
  • Shipment shares join each builder's programs to the same builder's shipments in the Shipment Report

1 Builder counts are distinct builders. One builder can run several programs, so builder counts do not add across rows.

2 Shipments are homes shipped from plants to retailers, not seasonally adjusted. A multi section home counts as one home.
